NO NATION LEAGUE FINALS FOR POLAND

Poland won’t be going to the UEFA Nations League Finals for the 2022/23 season after they dropped out of contention in Group A4. They are in the same group with Wales, Belgium and the Netherlands. A record of one win, one draw and two defeats means that they can no longer finish at the summit at the end of the final set of games in the group. Only the group winners in League A will advance to the Nations League Finals.

The Polish team dropped out of contention after they were beaten 1-0 at home by Belgium who are the second-best team in the world according to the latest edition of the FIFA Rankings. Poland lost to the Red Devils by a lone goal scored by MichyBatshuayi off the assist from midfielder YouriTielemans. It was the second goal of the current Nations League campaign for the former Borussia Dortmund striker. Batshuayi found the back of the net on 16 minutes and it turned out to be the winner.

Poland began their Group A4 campaign on a winning note before a run of three games without a win knocked them out of the running for the Nations League Finals. They started the group with a 2-1 win at home to Wales with all the goals coming in the second half. The Polish team had to come from behind to beat Wales who took the lead through midfielder Jonathan Williams. Jakub Kaminski and Karol Swiderski then came off the bench to score and win the points for Poland.

In their second game in the group, Poland lost 6-1 at the home of Belgium despite scoring first. They bounced back from the big defeat to the Red Devils with a 2-2 draw with hosts Netherlands before they were beaten by Belgium again via a 1-0 scoreline.
