Borussia Dortmund have just won the German Bundesliga title for the second season in a row beating Bayern Munich. Celebrating this wonderful achievement, Borussia Dortmund’s key players from Poland – Robert Lewandowski, Jakub Blaszczykowski, and Lukasz Piszczek – have been excellent all season long. They believe that playing together for the club team enhances their ability to play well for the national team. Poland will be kicking off the Euro 2012 with the opening match against Greece. Borussia Dortmund recently gained an eight point advantage at the top of the table with only two matches remaining in the season, thus confirming their title.
Borussia Dortmund managed a spectacular 1-0 win over Championship rivals Bayern Munich. It was followed with a 2-1 win over Schalke, while Bayern Munich managed to get beaten against Mainz. This effectively sealed the title for Dortmund. It is extremely unlikely for a team other than Bayern Munich to win two back-to-back Championships in Germany. However, despite selling a number of players in the summer, the club continues to be fighting for the top of the table. Blaszczykowski said that playing well for the club team meant that the trio will be able to perform instinctively for their national team.
“To play for the club is very different from playing for the national team. Here in Dortmund we play three at a time; that will help for the national team as well. For example, I play with Lukas on one side we are allowed to play blind. This will be the same in the national team on nearly the same level. Of course we play different at the front but the running is the same. With the Polish team we have less time to practice and to work together. We have just two weeks of preparation for the Euros,” Blaszczykowski said.
